Most cutting advice assumes a Western fridge. Real life is dal, rice, roti and sabzi cooked at home. Good news: that is a perfectly good fat-loss diet once three levers are set.

Lever 1 — Portion the carbs, keep the comfort

You do not remove rice; you measure it. One katori of cooked rice ≈ 130–150 kcal, one roti ≈ 80–100 kcal. Keep 2–3 carb portions per meal and let the deficit come from oil and snacks first.

Lever 2 — Cut invisible calories

Cooking oil is the silent surplus: every tablespoon is ~120 kcal. Ask for 1 tsp per person per dish, switch frying to roasting, and namkeen or biscuits with chai become the first casualty.

Lever 3 — Anchor every meal with protein
